Lirik Lagu Mannheim Steamroller - Away In The Manger

Ini pertama kali diterbitkan dalam buku Lutheran Sunday School tahun 1885 oleh James R. Murray, tapi pengarang dua bait pertama dan komposer musik itu tidak diketahui. Sudah pasti bahwa bait 3 ditambahkan pada tahun 1904 oleh Dr. John McFarland dari kota New York.

Beberapa orang telah mengaitkan lagu tersebut ke reformer Protestan Martin Luther. Kebingungan mungkin terjadi karena Murray menerbitkannya dengan judul "Luther's Cradle Hymn (Diciptakan oleh Martin Luther untuk anak-anaknya dan masih dinyanyikan oleh ibu-ibu di Jerman kepada anak mereka)".
